Boarding Kennels with a personal approach

This gem of a Boarding Kennels is nestled on the Huntsham Estate in the heart of the beautiful rolling Mid Devon countryside, a perfect location for your dog’s holiday.

Dog Boarding KennelsWhat makes County Hounds so popular with both its two legged and four legged devotees is the personal attention that all the dogs receive, with limited numbers we like to spend time with all the dogs.

• Just 10 kennels (individually heated when it gets chilly)
• Numbers restricted to 15 and individual care a priority
• Around 6 hours a day out of the kennels having fun or relaxing with chums
• Fully fenced compound and large paddock
• Large indoor area for when it’s too hot or too cold to go outside
• Summerhouse complete with sofa for relaxation

Every new dog that comes for a longer stay at County Hounds will first come for a 24 hour mini break to make sure they will be happy mixing with other dogs.

No wonder the dogs are quiet at night – they are exhausted from all that play time! It really is a holiday for your dog too!

Why not get in touch and see how we can help you?

    Kay

Our dog Hector went to stay with Kay and family this week. Usually Hector is with our other dog Lola so this was his first time solo! We knew it might be tricky and so were very relieved when we asked if he was ok and Kay was honest and helpful enough to tell us that he had been missing us, and to suggest things we might do to make him feel more at home. This says to me that their love of dogs is greater than their desire to make a profit and for me this is a total win. If I can rely on these guys to put my puppy first then I definitely know I’m with the right kennels! Kay was regularly in email contact and went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure Hector was safe sound and happy. We would use no other kennels!
    Thanks Kay!

“Wow, what can I say?! From the time that Kay and Les took over I knew that things were going to be fine…

Baxter (my baby boy puggle) loves it at County Hounds Boarding Kennels and usually runs off without a backward glance. I really enjoy the fact that Kay and Les take an interest in me as a dog owner and the reasons why I might be leaving Baxter for a day or two in their capable hands. The proof is in the exhausted state that Baxter always comes back in as he has thoroughly enjoyed his stay there. When I went on my cruise over the summer I got a lovely email from Baxter advising me about all the things that he was getting up to and it made me chuckle imagining all his mischievous ways that only I usually experience at home!

It has also been so helpful having discussions around dog food and being able to transition over to Trophy food which Baxter has during his stay anyway will be great for him in the long run and it is very reasonably priced. It was useful having the information leaflet that highlights the breakdown of ingredients which backs up the importance of good quality food!

Kay has been extremely accommodating of my needs and I know that I can ask if I need a favour and she will try to help me out.

Amazing kennels and I would recommend them to anyone who wants their dog to be looked after by people who care and want the best for their little fur baby/babies! Can’t say anymore than that! Absolutely fabulous. Leanne & Baxter 🙂 “

We are delighted with the service provided by County Hounds. Our young pointer has gone from strength to strength in his sociability with other dogs since coming to the kennels. Kay has worked hard with us to help him settle in the kennel environment and he loves his regular stays there. We get good feedback on how he has been, the kennels are always clean and odour free and we have also been pleased on the nutritional advice received from Kay on Trophy foods which they also specialise in. We feel able to leave Purdey without worry and that is invaluable to us. We feel very lucky to have this wonderful facility so close to our home. Clive, Amanda and Purdey.

    Highly Recommended

We have used this boarding kennel for some time and our Samoyed dog Archie is really very happy to go there. As he was already used to County Hounds as his home from home, we were slightly concerned to hear the previous owners had sold and of course we wondered how the change would impact upon the running and quality of the kennels. We needn’t have worried as all of the recent changes, since Kay took over, have improved the quality of the experience for Archie and for us.

The dog care is as individualised as it can be, and Kay recently did a wonderful job when Archie developed a ‘hot spot’ (itchy skin patch) just as we were going away for a wedding, and we had to try various collars to stop him attacking it. She persevered to find a solution, so she could keep Archie and let us go off. The owner care is also very good too! For example, whilst we were away for 2 weeks in France, she emailed us to let us know how Archie was doing during a very hot spell and re-assure us he was coping.

I have recently had the privilege of going behind the scenes for a morning to see first-hand the great care and exercise opportunities the dogs get. Needless to say, we and Archie would highly recommend this boarding kennels to our friends.
